Driving Directions

From north (travelling south on M74 [A74(M)] )

  • Turn off the A74 motorway at the junction for Dumfries A701 and Moffat.
  • Turn right (under the bridge) at the first roundabout, and continue to follow signs for Dumfries (first left at second roundabout).
  • Follow the A701 straight into Dumfries, where you will pass Gates Rubber Company.
  • At Tinwald Downs Roundabout (next to Esso Petrol Station) follow A701 Dumfries.
  • At the next, larger, roundabout take the right-hand exit, signposted Stranraer A75 Kilmarnock (A76).
  • Follow the bypass, passing over the river Nith, to the next roundabout at Cuckoo Bridge (large aerial suspension bridge over the roundabout).
  • At Cuckoo Bridge take the right exit, signposted Kilmarnock (A76).
  • Go straight through Lochside Road Roundabout (with McDonalds on the left).
  • Continue on this road, passing the Jet Petrol Station and Border Cars Mitsubishi/Daihatsu garage at the top of the hill.
  • Just after the garage and 40mph limit signs, the next left turn is marked Lochside Industrial Estate. Turn left here, onto Newton Road.
  • Turn right at the first right-hand junction, about 15 yards ahead, for Irongray Road.
  • Take the first right - Atlas car park is at the bottom of the slope, directly ahead.

From south (travelling north on M6 -> A74(M))

  • Branch left and merge onto the A75 (signposted South West Scotland, Dumfries, Stranraer)
  • Continue following signs for Stranraer, staying on the A75, until reaching Cuckoo Bridge (major roundabout with large overhead suspension walkway).
  • At Cuckoo Bridge, take the right exit for A76 (signposted Kilmarnock).
  • Go straight through the next (Lochside Road) Roundabout (with McDonalds on the left).
