There are times when it's not appropriate to make a call, maybe because you're in a meeting or sitting in the quiet coach on the train. So why not send a text message instead? It's quick, easy and unobtrusive.

Here's how:
- Scroll through your mobile's menu and select the option that lets you write text messages.
- Type your message
- Follow the on-screen prompts and enter the destination mobile phone number, then press Send.
Sending text messages abroad
You can use the service abroad, wherever the network has a roaming agreement and the foreign network supports the service. This is presently true of over 160 countries.How much does it cost?
O2's standard charge for sending a text message in the UK to another UK mobile is 10.21p (12p) per message. There is no charger to receive a standard text message although some foreign networks may apply a handling fee when you travel abroad.Why use it?

Messaging Bolt-Ons
