Text Messaging (SMS)

Text messaging lets you send a message even if the recipient is engaged and many phones can get a report that tells you when the text has been delivered. When you receive a text message, a little envelope symbol will usually appear on your mobile's screen. Some mobiles also bleep to let you know when a message has arrived.

How to send a message (Exact handset intructions may vary)

• Select MESSAGES
• Select WRITE MESSAGE
• Type out your message
• Press OPTIONS
• Press SEND
• Add recipient's number
• Select OK

When receiving a message

Select 'messages' or 'read messages' from your phone's menu (some phones automatically change the normal 'menu' key to 'read') The message will appear on the screen - just scroll through to read the message. Once you've read your message you can click 'reply' or 'delete'.

How much does it cost?

The maximum cost for sending a text message to another mobile in the UK is 12p (including VAT). You can even send standard text messages for as little as 4p each by purchasing an optional Extras Pack with pay-monthly price plans. Pay-as-you-talk customers can get standard texts from as little as 3p by purchasing an optional extras pack.

Tip - What do you do if your message won't send?
The first thing to do is look on your Vodafone mobile phone menu under message settings to see if our Messsage Centre number is already listed. If not, simply key in the number manually: +44 7785 016 005.
Once entered remember to press OK and not CANCEL. If you're still having problems then call Vodafone customer care or you service provider (Atlas!)
